Do you have a sweet tooth or frequent sugar cravings? This necklace was made with you in mind. It stands well on its own, or can be paired with other jewelry for the layered look that's so popular right now. It features two of my handmade polymer clay charms. There's a little grinning tooth, done in pink with blushing rosy cheeks. There's also a scrumptious-looking cupcake charm. It's chocolate cake with pink icing, white and glittery red sprinkles, and a cherry on top. The charms hang from an 18 inch silver-plated ball chain alt="".

Here's a bit of gothic lolita morbid cuteness for your hair. Everyone will be asking you where you got this one. The focal point is a gorgeous skeleton maiden cameo, highly detailed in ivory and black resin. It's flanked by a acid yellowish green "silk" faux flower. It kind of resembles a daisy. These are securely mounted on a barrette clip with a spring closure. I covered the barrette itself in black ribbon with white stitching detail. alt=""

Are you tired of sickly sweet Valentine sentiments? Or, perhaps, you are anti-Valentines Day? This necklace is for you. Two tentacles share an inky embrace, making the shape of a heart. The heart is mounted on a long black rubber cord. It's cinched with a moveable matching bead, so you can adjust the necklace from choker-length to a total of 27 inches long (mid-sternum alt="").

I created this necklace as an homage to my spunky Boston Terrier, Dozer. You can't go wrong with classic black and white. For this piece I used vintage white faceted glass beads, wavy black ovals, black agate beads, and tiny glass seed beads. There's even a hand-crafted toggle, fashioned to mesh perfectly with the design. Vive le blanc et noir! alt=""

Tingenek is an Eskimo word for "bare ice" - I thought it was quite fitting for this necklace. Here I wire-wrapped a variety of ice-clear crystals together with sterling silver, all by hand. There are chandelier beads, faceted rounds, and ovals. The chain and delicate lobster claw clasp are also sterling. There is a second dangling tier of crystal beads for an aristocratic, layered look. This is truly a labor of love like all my pieces alt=""!

The beads on this necklace remind me of sparkling drops of dew. A white swirl-carved marble is topped with a shower of AB-coated blue Swarovski crystals. There's also a lovely blue Czech glass flower that has gold specks in it. The pendant is mounted freely on a sterling silver chain, so the lobster claw clasp and its decorative charm can be turned to the front or the back. This necklace will look equally pretty with jeans and a tee shirt or with a lovely dres alt=""s.

Making a Large Polymer Clay Face Cane
Generally I approach polymer clay from a sculpting perspective. A lot of what I make is three dimensional. But another long tradition in polymer clay is making millefiore canes. This technique is drawn from Italian glassblowing, where rods of glass are fused together so that cutting across the tube reveals a two dimensional picture. The same can be done with clay. I’d made simple canes in the past like spirals, bullseyes, and stripes. Even though I’d admired complicated canes in magazines, I had shied away from more complex cane-making for way too long for fear that it would be too difficult. Last night I changed all that by tackling my first real cane.
Before you start, make sure you have:
- A large clean work area
- All your tools laid out
- A reference photo to work from and refer back to
- Plenty of clay. If you run out of a color in the middle of the night when the stores and closed and it’s too late to buy more, you’re gonna be screaming at yourself! (I found this out the hard way)
- About two days, and patience
My subject? Boston Terrier, of course! I started with the eyes.

Puppy Love.
Say hello to Daisy, the newest and tiniest Boston Terrier addition to our family! She decided to crash my jewelry photo session and ham it up, herself. Daisy is a 14 week Boston terror – spunky, cute and fierce.

And why not go for some kisses while she’s at it?

I will get around to posting the bat necklace, soon

Scary Time of Year
Halloween is fast approaching, and that means lot of spooky treasuries are appearing! I love love love this season. Here’s a treasury that features my Corpse Bride Barrette Set.
I made these in honor of all things Burtonesque. Cute barrettes made from pearly cadaver-skin blue are perfect for Halloween. I sculpted the bones from polymer clay and painstakingly added tiny black stitches which wrap around. I also brushed on silver and black accents for texture and depth.

And here’s the treasury:

Hello… I make jewelry.
And I am a multifaceted beast! I currently sell my work under two pseudonyms. My Gearbunny line is where I express my punky, industrial, cute and morbid side. Here you’ll find polymer clay jewelry and accessories. I mainly focus on necklaces, charms, pendants, bracelets, and earrings, but I have been known to branch off into hair accessories and brooches. My inspiration comes from club and music culture and weird, quirky thoughts that pop into my head. I have been creating jewelry as Gearbunny since 2006.
My jewelry alterego is LapinJade (ooh la la, that’s jade rabbit, in French). Launched in April of 2008, it’s a newer endeavor. My LapinJade jewelry features sterling silver wire-wrapping and original silver pieces that I’ve forged myself using metalworking techniques. The versatility of silver is very inspiring. I also use various gemstones and precious materials. Overall this is a more elegant, classically beautiful line.
Gearbunny and LapinJade are both equally ME, so you’ll find updates for both on this site!
Currently I sell my work on Etsy, a fantastic virtual marketplace for all things handmade. Visit Gearbunny here, and LapinJade over here.
