A Holographic Nude – Color Club Love Em Leave Em
This is Love Em Leave Em, a holographic nude by Color Club with fine holo particles.

I love the concept of holographic nudes because they look all demure and tame indoors. Then in bright sunlight, bam! Their true star quality comes out.

You could call this a work-safe holographic.

Halloween Nail Ideas
Halloween is less than a week away! Here’s a medley of random nail polishes that would make for sweet Halloween nails.
This is Pumpkin orange and black bar glitter – the nail polish that comes in the super cute pumpkin-shaped bottle. I used two coats on top of CG Idyllic, a burgundy-based duochrome with a gold/green shift. P.S. What’s the difference between “bar” and “string” glitter? Or are they synonyms?

Mattese Elite (ME), a brand sold by Ricky’s – I can’t remember for sure, but I think this is called Purple Sky. It’s a dirty dark eggplant that leans towards grayish brown in certain lights. This is a good zombie color I think!

Wet N Wild “Craze” Inferno. Wow, look at that glow in the bright sunlight!

Brucci Black Emerald is one of my favorite colors of all time. It’s black, it’s green, it’s heaven. Good color for a witch or swamp monster!

LA Splash Crimson Tide is a dripping bloody red glitter for vampire vixens. Due to its dark red jelly base it builds up nicely in 3 juicy coats.

Kleancolor Golden Nightmare has a funny name. I agree with the nightmare part but “golden” sounds too angelic. It’s a black base with greenish gold glitter. It’s very bumpy on its own and begs for a solid topcoat.

It reminds me a little of China Glaze It’s Alive meets Nina Ultra Pro Mossy Britches.
+

Sally Hansen XTreme Wear Pumpkin Spice is an orange glitter with a brown jelly base.

Here’s how it looks matte.

Sinful Colors Serena and Chloe, an orange glass fleck in a jelly base. This one is so pretty.

Then I used some crackle on top for extra Halloween flair.

Fright Night Claw Polishes for Halloween
Hooray for Halloween nail polishes! The Fright Night lacquers are especially fun because they come in coffin-shaped bottles. The funny-shaped cap can make for tricky application, but I can easily let that slide for the cuteness factor.

And here’s what they look like on claws:
Voodoo is a bright red glitter in a red jelly base. This is two coats. It’s gritty on its own, so a topcoat is definitely needed. I used Seche Vite here.

Toxic is a dark green foil. It really shines in bright sunlight. Two coats.

Phantom is a very chic gray shimmer. Two coats but three would have been better as there was still some patchiness on my middle finger.

Poison is a blue/purple blurple metallic. Two coats.

Enjoy!

OPI Muppets Nail Polish Collection Holiday 2011
I don’t know about you but I grew up watching the Muppets, so I was pleased and intrigued to hear that OPI was doing a holiday collection in our favorite puppets’ honor! The collection consists of 12 shades and I ended up buying 4 of them from my local beauty supply store. Here are my swatches and reviews.
Warm & Fozzie
This copper foil has a titch of duochrome that emerges in certain lights. This is gorgeous, the perfect fall color and festive enough for the holidays too.

Designer, De Better!
This reminds me of ORLY Rage if it were reversed – instead of copper with silver flecks, silver with copper flecks. The copper serves to warm up the silver foil. Quite a wearable shade.

Pepe’s Purple Passion
Pepe’s is a vampy purplish creme that leans towards jelly, as it is somewhat sheer. You can see the flake-like shimmer throughout. This style of shimmer reminds me of Revlon’s Fizz nail polishes. Very pretty, a nice twist on the classic vampy burgundy nail.

Excuse Moi!
And now for my favorite. Excuse Moi! is a bright vibrant pink jelly base brimming with pink, and some blue and green glitter. Due to the pink base you can build it up on its own or use it for layering. Here I painted two coats over Designer, De Better!

Will you be choosing any of these polishes for your holiday looks?

OPI I Vant to Be Alone-Star + POP Beauty Twinkle glitter
I Vant to be Alone-Star is from OPI’s Texas collection. Why the Vant instead of Want? Is this a typo or some kind of Transylvanian reference? That aside, it is a pretty, cool grey pearl. (Disregard the raggedy cuticles; these pix were taken awhile ago.)
Then I layered POP Beauty Twinkle glitter polish on top. It’s a primarily silver holographic glitter, but you can see hints of pink, green, blue, and gold as well. Since it’s finely textured it’s not as hard to remove as coarser, denser glitters.

Jewelry, art, music… and makeup! For me, these are all natural ways of expressing myself. The face is a canvas waiting to be enhanced, just like a blank sheet of sterling silver or clay. Here you’ll find an archive of my makeup looks and tutorials. For about 2 years I did my best to never repeat the same makeup (!!), so as you can imagine there are quite a few! I’m happy to answer any questions about how I created a look, product recommendations, etc.
From time to time I have makeup sales, which will also be posted here.
