Fright Night Claw Polishes for Halloween
Hooray for Halloween nail polishes! The Fright Night lacquers are especially fun because they come in coffin-shaped bottles. The funny-shaped cap can make for tricky application, but I can easily let that slide for the cuteness factor.

And here’s what they look like on claws:
Voodoo is a bright red glitter in a red jelly base. This is two coats. It’s gritty on its own, so a topcoat is definitely needed. I used Seche Vite here.

Toxic is a dark green foil. It really shines in bright sunlight. Two coats.

Phantom is a very chic gray shimmer. Two coats but three would have been better as there was still some patchiness on my middle finger.

Poison is a blue/purple blurple metallic. Two coats.

Enjoy!

Goodbye, Summer
The nights are getting nippy, the fragrance of wood smoke is in the air, and Halloween will be here in a couple of weeks. There’s no denying that fall is here and summer is over. Still, I wanted to do a last hurrah with some summery nail polish spam.

China Glaze Bogart + Revlon Watermelon Fizz
This manicure began with Bogart, a cool, eggplant foil by China Glaze.

To warm it up I added a layer of Revlon Watermelon Fizz nail polish. This is a clear reddish orange jelly from the Summer 2011 collection. It has these really pretty flakey glitter particles that I love. It also smells delish! Just like watermelon candy. Since the Fizz polishes are pretty sheer, I prefer to layer them over other nail lacquers.

ORLY Velvet Rope + A Green Franken
I discovered that Bed, Bath and Beyond has a big cosmetics section! Wooo! I restrained myself and only bought one polish, Orly Velvet Rope. It’s a medium purple shimmer with flecks of silver glitter, giving it a nice sparkle without the all-out glamour of a full glitter polish. To me it looks very regal.

Application was smooth and mess-free. This is two coats.
And, here is a franken I made that turned out better than I expected. It’s a combination of Sinful Colors San Francisco (which I reviewed last post), American Apparel Hunter (reviewed here), and Fantasy Makers glitter confetti, a fine holographic glitter. I named her Emerald Slippers, because the color reminded me of Oz, and this is the color Dorothy’s slippers would be if they were green! This is two coats. The glitter made for a slightly gritty surface but one coat of Seche Vite fixed that.

OPI DS Bold & Temptation For Fall 2011
Here are the latest OPI DS polishes for Fall 2011, two glitters in red (Bold) and purple (Temptation).

Bold is a pale silvery pink glitter in a red base. The base is darkly tinted so it builds up nicely on its own. While this polish is OK, I’m not really thrilled about it.

Temptation is a deep purple glitter with specks of blue and silver in a blue base. I found this to be the more appealing of the two since I’m a sucker for purples.

Apologies for the non-existent cleanup – that glitter did not want to budge from my skin. That was a turnoff. Maybe I was just having a bad polish day, but I couldn’t for the life of me get a clean gap. Although these colors are OK, I don’t have too much to say about them. The glitter was very gritty and needs about 2+ layers of topcoat to even out.
I purchased these up from Ricky’s (an NYC beauty retailer) for $9.99 a bottle. What are your impressions of this new DS series – will you skip them or scoop them up?
